Book Prize: The British Forum for Ethnomusicology

Book Prize: The British Forum for Ethnomusicology

Book submission deadline: Thursday 1 February 2024

The British Forum for Ethnomusicology invites submissions for the 2024 BFE Book Prize, to recognise outstanding scholarship in ethnomusicology written in English. Monographs and edited volumes published between 16 November 2021 and 15 November 2023 will be eligible for the 2024 prize.
Authors (of monographs) and editors (of edited collections) must be 2024 BFE members (authors contributing to edited collections do not need to be members but are welcome to join). Please note that the membership year runs from January to December: to ensure you are registered as a 2024 member, please contact membership[at]bfe.org.uk.

No book may be entered more than once for this prize. The award will be presented in 2024 and carries a prize of £250. The winner of the prize will be invited to sit on the panel for the next BFE Book Prize.

To enter, please send THREE copies of the nominated book, together with brief biographical information and contact details for the author(s) or editor(s) to the Chair of the prize panel, Anna Morcom (see below). Entries can be posted in hard copy or submitted as e-books. In the case of e-books, entrants should ensure that the three judges can independently access submissions (problems accessing e-books may result in the disqualification of a submission).

Hard copies of books and complete access details for e-books must be received on or before the deadline. The Prize Committee will not be able to return hard copies of books submitted for the prize.

Hard copies or digital submissions for the 2024 BFE Book Prize should be sent to:
